Conceived in 2013 by Sankara Gibbs and Malik Ntone Edjabe, Figments is an ongoing exploration of the power of free creative collaboration. It centres improvisation and art-making as a mediums of conversation and interchange. The project takes the form of multidisciplinary gatherings and processes, aiming to facilitate moments of deep resonance, negotiated interconnection, and interpersonal or collective expression. Another dimension of Figments is the procedure of reinterpreting real-life situations through an imaginative and/or intuitive lens.
